Dexter is an 11 year old male Min Pin whose owner had to surrender him due to personal circumstances.  He has limited sight and limited hearing, although he is inquisitive.  He loves to spend time on the couch with his owner, and would be the perfect lap dog for someone retired. He gets along with other dogs; we have no knowledge if he gets along with cats but suspect he would.. He is not housebroken and needs help getting outside.  Living on ground level would be better as he could likely learn dog doors.

Pistol is a gorgeous mix of Yorkie and maybe Westie, but a terrier none the less. Sweet boy that get’s along with his foster pack ok but would not mind being your one and only. My name is Abby and I came with my family from a hoarder situation. I am very scared and not familiar with anything outside of where I’ve lived my whole life.

                             

Sam is thought to be around 8 years young and all of 14 lbs .He falls into that very special breed , called designer  some  thing . Not sure if he was designed to look like Rod Steward or Phyllis Diller but either way , he sings a sweet tune and will make you laugh !

 He arrived with 3 other from a hoarder and he has proved to know things about a house hold . He tunes right in to the beep of a microwave , the sound of the frig opening and just exactly what energy is needed to jump on a couch .

Surprisingly , he has very good house training manners and  will tuck himself away in an open crate for night time .He can be a real pest when it comes to a female dog in the house .He will basically ignore any of the male dogs in the  house . He is not up to speed on leash walking , but has proven to be a real dog in the squirrel chase and bark category .

He is shy when you meet him takes a little time in warming up but is certainly worth the investment in time you would need to invest in making him a great companion pet !

As Stewie continues to feel comfortable in his surroundings, he continues to be a very affectionate and playful little boy. He loves to be with his person, all the time! He is slow to warm up and is very protective of his foster mom and current space .
He feels so much love for his person, he does not like it at all if another furry friend is anywhere near his person. I guess he never learned to share. For this reason, it has been determined that Stewie will need to be your one and only. He will adorn your lap and shower you with kisses and be your best buddy! He will also alert you with his voice to any new noise or person, so if you believe silence is golden, then Stewie is not your boy! Hellooo  friends! My name is Spot. I came into VIP Rescue on my freedom ride just before Christmas. Having a grand ole jolly time here in my foster home, but now it is time for me to find my forever home, soooooo friends … let me tell you a little bit about myself.

First off, I am fantastic on a leash!! I absolutely love being outdoors, I don’t pull, and truth be told, I’m a bit overweight so I could use the exercise. Although I would like a fenced in yard, it’s not required, and in fact, due to my size, I would probably be a good fit for a condo or apartment dwelling family as well. I am sturdy, handsome and confident. Friendly and appropriately social with other dogs. The others around me influence my play mood. I am a playful dog at times, but during chill time, I can couch potato with the best of the pack! I haven’t been tested with kids, but all indications are we would be lifelong buddies. Foster mom says I’ll probably meet some in the next few days so watch the comments for an update about that and any other things that might come to mind between now and the time my application for adoption closes.

Hi everyone in rescue land.  I’m Cierra…I made my way from Louisiana to VIPRescue in Florida.  I’m looking for my furever home.  I made it just in time to be out of the shelter for Christmas and the end of 2020.  2021 is looking better and better and I am interviewing for my furever human(s).  I am thought to be a Portuguese Podengo mix.  That is a big name for a happy little girl.  I love cuddles, walks, being on your lap, playing, eating, did I mention I love being close to my human.  I would be good as an only dog in a home or with other human or furry siblings, I am not cat tested, however I do have a prey drive and love to stalk squirrels.  I am about 2 years old, 9.8 lbs, spayed, up-to-date on my shots and micro chipped.

Amelia update!

Meet adorable, sweet, adoptable Amelia!! Amelia is thought to be approximately 3 years old and weighs 28 lbs. She is most likely a terrier mix

When Amelia arrived at VIP Rescue, she was emotionally broken and heart worm positive. Since her arrival, Amelia has spent her time with a couple of different experienced VIP fosters. She has completed her heart worm treatment like a champ and no further restrictions or requirements are needed except regular monthly preventative, so YAY!!!!

Amelia is learning doggy confidence, human trust, touch and affection, exposure to inside/outside life noises and stimuli, and small changes within her known space. She has made amazing progress and her confidence continues to grow! She exhibits a willingness and desire to expand her horizons and has made great strides in learning how to be a dog and a household pet. It is truly a beautiful thing to be part of her story.

Amelia is still very shy, especially with new experiences and people. We believe that once she finds her forever home, she will settle in very nicely if given time, patience, love, and a welcoming, calm, consistent environment. That is clearly what we have experienced in our VIP foster homes and while we are honored she has learned to love and trust us, it is time for us to keep our bigger promise to her and expand her world. Amelia is excellent with other social/friendly dogs and has been around many during her time with VIP. She likes her personal space, but as long as others respect that, she will quickly initiate doggy intros. We believe that Amelia would greatly benefit from having another confident dog in the home (or close knit extended family type structure). A meet and greet will be required.

Amelia seeks experienced dog owners who are easy going, patient, soft footed/soft spoken, have a quiet lifestyle, and who are willing to continue to grow her amazing soul. Winny is a mystery breed . The best guessers  we know, think he is a lab mix. Based on his current weight , we estimate he will be 30 to 40 lbs as an adult. He is thought to be 11 weeks old .

Every one needs a BUDDY ! And Buddy needs you ! There is no telling how long Buddy wandered , stumbling his way around . until someone  brought to the shelter . No one came for Buddy ! He had to wait out his time , hoping his people would claim him. But no one missed this sweet little shihTzu senior .

Buddy’s little nose has to work overtime, as his vision is extremely poor , if not entirely gone. He rests quietly now, safe in a foster home . Of course , he is confused about what is happening but his gentle way , will help him find his way into your heart .

He is current on his shots , micro chipped, neutered  on heartworm and flea prevention and is being treated for an eye infection. He had to be completely stripped down due to the severe matting , but his coat is as beautiful as his soul. He is 15 lbs’

Willow is the ultimate velcro and lap dog.  She loves to gives kisses, be held, snuggle up on a lap, and sleep in the human bed nuzzled up against you.  She loves everyone and will welcome them with kisses.  So far so good with doing her business outside.  She will do best with someone that is home a lot to keep her company and snuggle with.  She’s good with other dogs and is great on a leash.

Bolt is thought to be a 4 year old 13.2 lb Chi/Terrier mix . He was very scared . But as you see in the pictures ha has already relaxed. Norman is thought to be a 5 1/2 year old PBGV (Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen) that came into VIP Rescue from a hoarding situation. He greats along excellent with other dogs and is curious, but nonreactive to the foster kittens so I suspect he would do fine with cats as well.

Upon arrival at VIP, he had surgery to correct a cherry eye that is still healing up but looking good. Norman weighs 25 pounds, has been neutered, is up to date on his vaccinations and is on flea and heart worm prevention. He is not a huge fan of the open outdoors because loud noises and unfamiliar objects and occurrences currently concern him so a fenced in yard will be required for him. Sad Sam was surrendered to a rural shelter, with a “BLA BLA BLA “, story claiming of RECENT  personal hardships. Also, they  claimed his deteriorated  condition was RECENT !  HA.

Sad Sam arrived with a mouth full of rotten teeth,. He had 12 extractions . Not a recent condition!

He has a massive ear infections with rods. Not a recent condition !

He has dry eye ! Not a recent condition !

He is malnourished. Not a recent condition !

He is balding with a skin infection . Not a recent condition !

He remaining hair was all mats. Not a recent condition !

All of these conditions have been medically addressed , and he is well on his way , to being Glad Sam. Sam is also neutered, micro chipped, up to date on his shots and on heartworm prevention.He is thought to be about 6 years young and 15 lbs.He is mostly a miniature poodle .

Because of this we are only accepting applications for loving pet parents within easy driving range to OUR vet in Palm Harbor . It is almost a 5 month treatment plan that requires about 5 TIME AND DATE  sensitive appointments . No changes once the program starts , PERIOD  !There are times when you will need to limit the exercise of Ena for the most successful results . Please carefully consider this before you apply .Please educate yourself on the disease prior to applying.

Hi, My name is Pearl and I am a 10 year old maltipoo. I look like a stuffed animal, but I’m real!
My foster dads say I give good kisses. All day long I like to give kisses. I also love to lay next to you (or on you) and my favorite spot is up on the back of the couch. I am not very active and am perfectly happy just laying around. I get along well with my doggie sisters and brother cat. I need to still work on my house training, but I’ve been trying. A little patience and help and I’ll learn.
They say I’m going to want to live with someone who has lots of time to spend with me. I’m really small so I’d be better off with no small kids.
My eyesight in one eye isn’t so good (glaucoma)and I’m currently on meds for it. If it doesn’t get better I’ll have to have it operated on to take it out, but that won’t erase how cute I am.

While these behaviors are the obvious result in poor early socialization and no previous guidance they are correctable with appropriate training., She is best as an only child in an adult household only .

The bright side is , she can be lots of fun and has shown interest in toys that squeak . She is catching on to house training and is good on a leash .

Otis is a docile and darling tri-color doxie ! Is about 14 lbs and thought to be just 7 years young . This little soul is current on his shots , micro chipped, neutered had a dental and is on heart worm prevention.

 He appears to be a loner and will avoid other dogs . He seeks out a quiet corner if there isn’t a vacancy along side his human on the couch . He has not  found a play or toy drive yet  ! He is however , successfully finding the route to take his business outside .

We have been told that he isn’t good around human men , but we have don’t been able to confirm that . He is quick to grab a spot on the couch when the opportunity arises  . Not kid or cat tested ! He appears to be good on a leash and has not yet found his voice .
