Update on Mz. Diva!!!

She has come a long way since first coming to VIP Rescue.  She is still working on her weight (aren’t we all..lol)

She would benefit with a couple of daily walks.  This greatly helps with her housebreaking issues and she does well with the exercise.

She’s taking daily meds for her hyperthyroidism and must continue on them for life.  She is also being treated for Cushing’s.  But she eagerly takes all her meds in  tiny pieces of a Pill Pockets.

She’s up to date on all her vaccines, shots and meds.

She gets along with everyone!!!  She is just a big Love that adores belly rubs!!!

JANUARY 2017

Update on Ms. Diva.  

This past week, she got a nice groom at Fluffy Cuts.  And a trip to the Vets.  She has bloodwork done, and the vets seem to think, other than a few things in her bloodwork, she’s doing great.  She had her dental and is on some antibiotics.  The vet seems to think these antibiotics may help with a lot of the elevated things on her tests.

She is still working on the potty training, but she is as sweet as can be!

She loves to follow you around and sleep closely with you.  

She’s beginning to get a little more playful and active, now that her ailments are being addressed and she’s feeling better. 

She’s smart and a really great dog!!!

She is a bit overweight and on a doggie diet.  She is currently 22 pounds and medically, she’s still working on some things.

She’s just been spayed and had some mammary tumors removed.  She still has some follow-ups with the vet so we can continue her road to full recovery 🙂  And she is due for a vet’s appt. this week, as well as a day at Fluffy Cuts/Largo for “the works”! lol

She came to us loaded with fleas, matted, and a smelly mess.  She was just neglected, poor girl.    *sigh*

You would never know anything’s bothering her now, as far as her attitude goes.

They say she’s a (big) MaltiPoo, but whatever she is, she’s just a great little dog!!!

We are working on house breaking….

She has been micro chipped, spayed had the tumors removed.  She will have a dental this week or next.

Big Boy Johnny  is a proud member of the distinctive breed club of , we don’t know what he really is . But , who cares, he is simply adorable ! Our best guess is a Shih Tzu / Bearded collie . He is a big baby of 33 lb and 7 years young ! He is current on his shots , neutered, micro chipped, heartworm negative and had a dental too! Tessa is a darling 13 lb, 3 year old terrier mix.. She is current on her shots, micro chipped, spayed and being treated for heartworm disease.  Tessa is a lap baby. She loves getting her belly rubbed all the time. She gets along well with other dogs and likes to run and play. She isn’t sure about cats though. She’s curious, but also scared of them. She is learning to use her inside pee pads. She walks ok on a leash, but doesn’t seem to understand why we walk. She sleeps through the night in her kennel, but would love to share a bed with you. She is a happy and friendly girl. We are accepting application for Tessa from residents in Pinellas county  who can stick to a very strict appointment schedule for the heartworm treatment.

MEET HALO,

HALO is a lovely 15 month old Standard Poodle Puppy.  He weighs 71 lbs, and is in good health.  His family was no longer able to keep him due to relocation issues.  HALO is sweet, attentive, loyal, very smart, and high energy.  He has been well cared for, has had some basic training but needs a lot more.  He is people and dog friendly.    As with any puppy, he has lots of energy and needs lots of physical and mental exercise to keep him stimulated.  He needs a fully fenced yard in his new home to romp and play.  A canine partner of like energy to play with him would be highly desired.  Halo is house-trained, and is not destructive when left by himself.  HALO is current on his vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and neutered.   Large young dogs take a commitment, a lot of time, and a lot of attention for them to reach their full potential of being a great companion animal.  Please make sure you have the lifestyle to give Halo the time and attention a very large


young pup needs and is so deserving of if you are thinking of adding another dog to your home.

Being a poodle, HALO requires frequent grooming and brushing.   Standard Poodles are very social dogs, and prefer not to be left alone for long periods of time.  They are very intelligent and can be trained with ease.  If you are looking to add a new member to your family, have a fenced yard, and would enjoy the company of a Standard Poodle, please complete an adoption application.

Chi Charlie is a darling brindle Chi mix. He is about 1 year ol and about 8 lbs. This good natured boy is current on his shots, neutered and heartworm negative. Charlie is housetrained and good with other dogs .

Meet Maverick!

Maverick is a 2 year old Male small Mini-Labradoodle weighing in at 42 lbs.  He likes to give kisses, sit in your lap, and be the center of your world.  He is a good boy, dog friendly, kid friendly, and very affectionate.  Maverick was no longer wanted after a divorce, and finds himself looking for a new home.  Maverick is current on his vaccinations, heart worm negative, will be neutered next week, a dental, and microchipped.  He needs for nothing but a new loving home with lots of energy to keep up with Maverick.  Maverick needs a home with a fenced yard so he can run and play as puppies should.  He will need frequent grooming, and he does shed lightly.  He is the product of a Mom Parti-Standard Poodle and a Labrador Retriever; F1B. He likes riding in the car, he is crate trained, and is learning to walk on a leash.  He does not meet a stranger.  He is eager to be at your side wherever you go!

A fun little guy who lives being with you and sleeping under the covers in bed.

He still has a little way to go with the medical issues.  And still needs his dental…but he is ready to go to a new home with a person willing to take on the little medical care he still needs.  Pills (which he takes like a Champ!!) and vet visits.

I’ve just checked on his meds.  The pills are available at Wal-Mart for $11 for 100 pills.  +3 months of his pills.  So, less than $50 a Year!!

Tiara and Kayla   are a bonded pair of Chinese Crested hairless. They are 6 years young and about 11 lbs each . They are current on shots spayed micro chipped and will be heartworm tested. They are a bonded pair so they will need to be adopted together . The girls are very timid and are house-trained.

Meet Mitzi! Mitzi is a 3 yr old small cream colored Standard Poodle. She weighs 38 pounds and is a kind gentle bundle of love. She loves people and does not know a stranger. She is kid friendly. She is very playful, and can be a great snuggler also. She loves to sleep with her people. You can take her anywhere and she behaves well. She can be wild and crazy, or she can be calm…..it just depends on what you are doing with her. She has the signs of being an excellent Therapy Dog with some further structured training. She is house trained and is not real fond of crating, and so long as she has toys to occupy her, she is not destructive and does not need to be crated. However, you will need to guard your trash cans! Mitzi is dog friendly, if you can get past her initial snarling – by day 2 she is best friends with other furry creatures large and small. She loves to ride in the car and you can take her wherever you go. She is a very social animal and loves outings with her person. She walks well on a leash.

Mitzi was recently spayed, teeth cleaned, microchipped, is heart worm negative and current on vaccinations. We noticed she favored her one rear leg, and let out an occasional yelp. ;X-rays found there is narrowing of vertebrae with disc protrusion, however there is no nerve deficit which is great news and her hips are good! She was prescribed Vetprofen and low impact exercise. There has been no further issues since she has been on this medication. Her former owner relinquished her to rescue as they are moving and could not longer care for her.

Mitzi’s new home will have a fenced yard for her to run and play. Her new home will also allow her on their furniture and in their bed. Mitzi requires frequent grooming. She is on special food for her allergies and this food needs to be continued at her new home. Her prescription of Vetprofen will also need to be continued on a daily basis. Her adoption donation is $350. A home visit is a prerequisite to her adoption. Mitzi is fostered in Leesburg, FLORIDA and you will need to travel to Leesburg, FL to meet her. We are unable to adopt out of state.

Harmony is a darling , yet very shy , long leg mixed terrier.

Harmony is 15 lbs and once she warms up to you she is a velcro gal….

Gentle Gina was surrendered to us as a stray after 2 weeks of posting as found.

Her ear tattoo, tells us she was a breeder. Gentle Gina is frail and frightened. Gentle Gina has discovered and likes grass , as opposed to a chicken wire crate.  Gentle Gina  has little to no socialization with humans. Gentle Gina  has been spayed and has had a dental..She is now current on her shots and micro chipped. A lifetime of neglect, has left her with only 2 teeth. Gentle Gina  has a cataract in one eye but the other eye looks OK. We estimate Gentle Gina  is 9 years young. Gentle Gina  may be younger
