Meet Mitzi! Mitzi is a 3 yr old small cream colored Standard Poodle. She weighs 38 pounds and is a kind gentle bundle of love. She loves people and does not know a stranger. She is kid friendly. She is very playful, and can be a great snuggler also. She loves to sleep with her people. You can take her anywhere and she behaves well. She can be wild and crazy, or she can be calm…..it just depends on what you are doing with her. She has the signs of being an excellent Therapy Dog with some further structured training. She is house trained and is not real fond of crating, and so long as she has toys to occupy her, she is not destructive and does not need to be crated. However, you will need to guard your trash cans! Mitzi is dog friendly, if you can get past her initial snarling – by day 2 she is best friends with other furry creatures large and small. She loves to ride in the car and you can take her wherever you go. She is a very social animal and loves outings with her person. She walks well on a leash.
Mitzi was recently spayed, teeth cleaned, microchipped, is heart worm negative and current on vaccinations. We noticed she favored her one rear leg, and let out an occasional yelp. ;X-rays found there is narrowing of vertebrae with disc protrusion, however there is no nerve deficit which is great news and her hips are good! She was prescribed Vetprofen and low impact exercise. There has been no further issues since she has been on this medication. Her former owner relinquished her to rescue as they are moving and could not longer care for her.
Mitzi’s new home will have a fenced yard for her to run and play. Her new home will also allow her on their furniture and in their bed. Mitzi requires frequent grooming. She is on special food for her allergies and this food needs to be continued at her new home. Her prescription of Vetprofen will also need to be continued on a daily basis. Her adoption donation is $350. A home visit is a prerequisite to her adoption. Mitzi is fostered in Leesburg, FLORIDA and you will need to travel to Leesburg, FL to meet her. We are unable to adopt out of state.
