Hey it’s Princess here. My foster mom says I’m the sweetest little girl she ever fostered! I’m approximately 7 years old and I’m currently about 9-10 lbs. I really need to put a little more weight. I’m spayed, UTD on shots, microchipped and I’ve had a dental. I will be the best companion ever as I love to sit in your lap or lay next to you. But I’m also happy to play with toys if you throw them or play tug of war. I like to play with my little foster brother but I would be okay being your one and only. I walk well on a leash and I ride great in the car. I’m housebroken too. I’m a little skittish at first meeting but I warm up quick. I’m a terrier/poodle mix. Hi,
My name is Jazzy and my foster dads say I’m a little snuggler. I’ve been with them for just over a week and I’m starting to realize I’m going to be ok, even after all the bad stuff that I’ve been through. I wag my tail every time I see them now and am ok coming out of my pen area on my own.

I love to sit on the couch and get my tummy rubbed and my ears scratched. I get along with my sister dogs when we’re out around the house, but I’m protective of my space in my pen.

I would probably be ok with other dogs, but know I’d be happy by myself if you want to spoil me. I was curious about the cats, but if they run, I like to chase them. Maybe no cats would be a good thing.

Also, I am so small and think I would probably like to have a family that only has older children or even someone who is retired that just wants to sit with me all day.

I am good at housetraining as long as I get walked on a regular schedule. I walk in the morning and then again at night and am good at the time in between.

I currently sleep in my private pen area ok, but I’m sure your bed would be much more comfortable and I’d love to snuggle with you.

I also have no problems walking on a leash and I like to explore. If you’d like to be my family, please fill out an application for me.

Update on Mz. Diva!!!

She has come a long way since first coming to VIP Rescue. She is still working on her weight (aren’t we all..lol)

She would benefit with a couple of daily walks. This greatly helps with her housebreaking issues and she does well with the exercise.

She’s taking daily meds for her hyperthyroidism and must continue on them for life. She is also being treated for Cushing’s. But she eagerly takes all her meds in tiny pieces of a Pill Pockets.

She’s up to date on all her vaccines, shots and meds.

She gets along with everyone!!! She is just a big Love that adores belly rubs!!!

JANUARY 2017

Update on Ms. Diva.

This past week, she got a nice groom at Fluffy Cuts. And a trip to the Vets. She has bloodwork done, and the vets seem to think, other than a few things in her bloodwork, she’s doing great. She had her dental and is on some antibiotics. The vet seems to think these antibiotics may help with a lot of the elevated things on her tests.

She is still working on the potty training, but she is as sweet as can be!

She loves to follow you around and sleep closely with you.

She’s beginning to get a little more playful and active, now that her ailments are being addressed and she’s feeling better.

She’s smart and a really great dog!!!

She is a bit overweight and on a doggie diet. She is currently 22 pounds and medically, she’s still working on some things.

She’s just been spayed and had some mammary tumors removed. She still has some follow-ups with the vet so we can continue her road to full recovery 🙂 And she is due for a vet’s appt. this week, as well as a day at Fluffy Cuts/Largo for “the works”! lol

She came to us loaded with fleas, matted, and a smelly mess. She was just neglected, poor girl. *sigh*

You would never know anything’s bothering her now, as far as her attitude goes.

They say she’s a (big) MaltiPoo, but whatever she is, she’s just a great little dog!!!

We are working on house breaking….

She has been micro chipped, spayed had the tumors removed. She will have a dental this week or next.

Jolly has been in foster for over two years and approximately 10-12 years old. He is not adoptable because of his past neglect and abuse. His expenses every month are for heart guard, nexguard, eye drops,a and supplements to give him the best quality life he can have. We groom him because he can’t be groomed by anyone but it’s a 4-5 hour job. He occasionally needs antibiotics for his eyes, he is completely blind but had re occurring eye infections. We would appreciate a sponsor or just donations to help with his care. Just because he is deemed un-adoptable doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be cared for and loved by a permanent foster/hospice. Tessa

Tessa is a darling 13 lb, 3 year old terrier mix.. She is current on her shots, micro chipped, spayed and being treated for heartworm disease. Tessa is a lap baby. She loves getting her belly rubbed all the time. She gets along well with other dogs and likes to run and play. She isn’t sure about cats though. She’s curious, but also scared of them. She is learning to use her inside pee pads. She walks ok on a leash, but doesn’t seem to understand why we walk. She sleeps through the night in her kennel, but would love to share a bed with you. She is a happy and friendly girl. We are accepting application for Tessa from residents in Pinellas county who can stick to a very strict appointment schedule for the heartworm treatment.

Zack/Holiday

Zack is a handsome special little 6 year old 12 lb Yorkie! He is current on his shots , dewormed, micro chipped, heart worm negative, and neutered! He is very friendly, and good on a leash. Thanks to Sandy Paws grooming in Palm Harbor for the fresh groom.

Zack is special needs in that his is a diabetic. Not a big deal, however his new family will need to be committed to manage and monitor Zack.

Diabetic dogs need blood glucose levels tested every 6 months at the vet. (Approx $75 for test)

Insulin injections are required once or twice a day (Walmart $25 per bottle insulin lasts 2-3 months and syringes $13 for 100. )

Sometimes vets recommend special dog food for diabetic dogs.

You will need to be able to give injections to Zack twice daily.

I know hearing that a dog has diabetes and requires shots daily can be very intimidating. I think this is the main reason our little Zack has not been adopted yet.

I felt the same way until one of my little dogs was diagnosed with diabetes. I didn’t think I would be able to give shots!!!?

But I found it’s really quite easy. Please take a few minutes to click and watch this short video on caring for a diabetic dog and giving shots.

Canine Insulin

Our vets would be more than happy to take some time with Zack’s new owners to show them how to give him his (twice) daily shots to get you comfortable with the procedure.

It is not hard, the meds are not expensive…it’s the commitment you can make to Zack to be there for him twice a day to give him the medicine that will help him live a long, healthy life.

MEET HALO,

HALO is a lovely 15 month old Standard Poodle Puppy. He weighs 71 lbs, and is in good health. His family was no longer able to keep him due to relocation issues. HALO is sweet, attentive, loyal, very smart, and high energy. He has been well cared for, has had some basic training but needs a lot more. He is people and dog friendly. As with any puppy, he has lots of energy and needs lots of physical and mental exercise to keep him stimulated. He needs a fully fenced yard in his new home to romp and play. A canine partner of like energy to play with him would be highly desired. Halo is house-trained, and is not destructive when left by himself. HALO is current on his vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and neutered. Large young dogs take a commitment, a lot of time, and a lot of attention for them to reach their full potential of being a great companion animal. Please make sure you have the lifestyle to give Halo the time and attention a very large

young pup needs and is so deserving of if you are thinking of adding another dog to your home.

Being a poodle, HALO requires frequent grooming and brushing. Standard Poodles are very social dogs, and prefer not to be left alone for long periods of time. They are very intelligent and can be trained with ease. Hey I’m Oscar! Don’t pity me because I only have three legs! It really doesn’t bother me at all. I run with my foster brothers and sisters in the back yard and I’m as fast as they are. I’m approximately 2 years old, 8 pounds, 90 percent housebroken, UTD on shots, and micro chipped. I am currently being treated for heartworms but that is not bothering me either. You must live in Pinellas County so you can take me to VIP’s vet for my two remaining injections. Of course VIP Rescue is covering the costs. I love my foster Mom and I follow her everywhere. I love playing with toys, but I am possessive of them. I live with four other dogs now, but I would be okay being your one and only. I love giving kisses and would love to be your lap dog. Easy breezy, that’s me! Please don’t let the fact that I only have three legs, stop you from adopting me, I promise it doesn’t bother me and you will miss out on all this love I have. I will be neutered after my HW treatment is complete. It was just too much, having my leg amputated and the treatment for HW to add another surgery at this time. Again VIP Rescue will cover the costs. I have the prettiest golden eyes and my tail never stops wagging. Delilah is a darling 16 lb , 2 year old Bichon mix. She is spayed, micro chipped , current on her shots and heartworm negative. Delilah is shy and takes a little time to warm up, but with food and treats is your best friend quickly. She also is VERY energetic until she crashes, then the tummy rubs are supposed to start. She was fine with the other dogs, slept in the crate by the bed all night too. She would be ok with teens with a little play time, but probably too active for tiny kids.

Meet Maverick!

Maverick is a 2 year old Male small Mini-Labradoodle weighing in at 42 lbs. He likes to give kisses, sit in your lap, and be the center of your world. He is a good boy, dog friendly, kid friendly, and very affectionate. Maverick was no longer wanted after a divorce, and finds himself looking for a new home. Maverick is current on his vaccinations, heart worm negative, will be neutered next week, a dental, and microchipped. He needs for nothing but a new loving home with lots of energy to keep up with Maverick. Maverick needs a home with a fenced yard so he can run and play as puppies should. He will need frequent grooming, and he does shed lightly. He is the product of a Mom Parti-Standard Poodle and a Labrador Retriever; F1B. He likes riding in the car, he is crate trained, and is learning to walk on a leash. He does not meet a stranger. He is eager to be at your side wherever you go!

UPDATE:

Even the vet was amazed at Brody’s progress over the past month!

Look at this Adorable Boy!!

His hypothyroidism is totally under control. His hair has grown in Beautifully!!

And not only beautuful…but he’s a fabulous little guy!!

He listens well, he’s house trained.

A fun little guy who lives being with you and sleeping under the covers in bed.

He still has a little way to go with the medical issues. And still needs his dental…but he is ready to go to a new home with a person willing to take on the little medical care he still needs. Pills (which he takes like a Champ!!) and vet visits.

I’ve just checked on his meds. The pills are available at Wal-Mart for $11 for 100 pills. +3 months of his pills. So, less than $50 a Year!!

More than reasonable & Affordable!

Brody is a 10 yr old Crested-Terrier mix. He has just been diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism….That’s why he has lost his hair.

It is not uncommon, it is not contagious, and it is not hard to treat!! A ½ a pill a day is all it takes!!!

After a trip to the vet’s yesterday, he is on a full regimen of treatments. It will take him a little bit of time to get to be 100% again.
