Mitzie should be angry but she isn’t. It appears that Mitzie was used as a breeder her entire life. Perhaps her production declined so she became worthless. Nonetheless, Mitzie was picked up as a stray by Hernando county animal services. Thanks to VIP, Mitzie was saved just in time. Despite Mitzie being a senior dog, an approximate age of 12 y/o, VIP wanted to give Mitzie a second chance. Her hard life was evident and VIP commited to her rescue. When I first visited Mitzie at the animal services I was shocked by her appearance. Mitzie was completely mated, her paws encased in mats leaving her unable to scratch her flea ridden body. I petted Mitzie, got up to leave, when she heard my voice, I saw Mitzie attempting to shake her tail but her matted fur prohibited any expression of joy.
Years of breeding left Mitzie with large mammary gland tumors and due to neglect her teeth were also in bad shape. Treatment was necessary and VIP scheduled her surgery.
This was a big surgery for a small dog like Mitzie, but Mitzie did well. Maybe she knew that this was the last big hurdel to a good life. During surgery her mammary gland tumors were removed, Mitzie was spayed and 8 teeth were pulled leaving Mitzie as good as new judging by her spirit. Her medical bills added up and Mitzie would appreciate any contribution to help with her vet bills! However, Mitzie knows that not everybody is capable of help but sharing her story doesn’t cost anything.
Mitzie is looking for a forever home. Mitzie gets along with other dogs and cats. Mitzie has a crooked smile which makes her even more endearing. Everybody loves Mitzie and Mitzie loves everybody. Mitzie still has some desirable puppy traits.
Mitzie would prefer a quite home she likes to go on walks, does very well on a leash and is mostly house trained.

Hi, My name is Kia. I am a 1 year old Maltese Poodle mix and weigh 14 lbs. When I first got to VIP, everyone thought I was a quiet lapdog. Come to find out, I just wasn’t feeling well. Now that VIP has helped me feel better, my inner puppy is starting to show. I like to play with my puppy sister and my foster dads. I like to chew on my toy rings (and nibble on my daddy’s hands, but we’re working on that.) I am being paper trained and for the most part, I am doing well. Only a couple of slip ups every now and then. I do like to be a lapdog too, I just have to run crazy and tire myself out first. I don’t have any problems with either of my puppy sisters and have shown no aggression towards either of them. I don’t mind sleeping in my crate, or on my pillow in the kitchen. I think I would be better off with a family that has teenagers or a younger person/couple that has the time and energy to play with me. I would also like to have a puppy sister or brother to play with. I am high energy and want a family that has the time and patience to keep up with me.
