Spencer is a vivacious very young 6 yr old 80 lb Standard Poodle boy. This BIG beautiful black boy will charm your socks off and have you wrapped around his heart in no time. He does not know a stranger.. He loves his people, he has loads of energy, and is a very busy boy. Spencer knows his commands. He will sit, come, stay, drop it, and play ball til the cows come home. He is house trained, prefers not to be crated, and has one speed: full throttle! Spencer is all smiles, and a well adjusted boy that you can’t help but fall in love with him. He is super smart, he has been through extensive training. He can be vocal and lets you know what he wants and when he wants it. He walks well on a leash…..until there are other dogs and then he can lose focus. He will literally melt your heart and is very smart as a whip. He prefers not to share resources like balls and toys and food. We are working on that, however, since he has always been an only dog, sharing is not his strong point. His new owner will need to like to play ball and games, frequently take him on walks/runs, and provide daily mental stimulation. Spencer will literally play 24/7 with you or another dog. Spencer does not come with an OFF Button. It is important you have the time and strength to channel 80 lbs of energy. Occasionally, he will decide to hump another dog, or small child if allowed, and you need to be able to control this behavior. Spencer has a big personality, and he lights up the room when he walks in. He captures everyone’s attention! Spencer is gentle with people and has good manners taking treats.
Spencer needs a minimum of a 6 foot fence with plenty of room to play ball, chase and do zoomies. (NO EXCEPTIONS PLEASE) We recommend Spencer’s s new owner continue his training as he is eager to learn with positive reinforcement. Spencer is not a service dog candidate or therapy dog candidate. Prior attempts have failed. He does not chase squirrels or have a prey drive. He just likes to chase, play, and wrangle with other dogs and you. Spencer would like to sleep in your bed with you so move over and please make room! We recommend no children under 10 reside in his new home due to his size and simply the ability to handle a fast 85 lb dog. His new owner should have experience with larger dogs. Spencer can be an only dog in his new home as he has been his entire life and that would likely work best. However, he can live in a home with another dog of like size and non-stop high energy that is not annoyed or intimidated by his desire to play 24×7. Small dogs, cats, and farm animals would not work with Spencer.
Spencer requires frequent brushing and monthly grooming. He is house trained, and looking for a home where his family is home most of the time. He will not do well in a home that crates 4-6-8-10 hours a day. He has been accustomed to someone being home 24×7 with him all his life. Preference will be given to those with Standard Poodle experience or large dog experience because he can be a handful. Spencer is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He appears to be in perfect health and has had excellent care all of his life. Spencer’s owner is deceased, and his elderly wife is simply not able to provide Spencer with the active life he needs.

We’d like to introduce you to Miss Pebbles, an adorably sweet 3 year old 9lb chihuahua mix girl. Pebbles is a good girl who enjoys the company of other dogs as well as hanging out with her human. Pebbles came to us heartworm positive due to her previous family not keeping her on the monthly preventative. With that being said, VIP Rescue takes care of all the costs associated with her treatment and her new family must live in Pinellas, W Pasco or NW Hillsborough County due to time sensitive treatment at our Vet in Palm Harbor. Pebbles would need to take it slow and easy while undergoing her treatment, and all of this will be discussed with the potential adopter. Hershey/Seminole Hershey was born on Thanksgiving in 2019 and we are thankful to have this flash of comical energy in our home. He is a 20 pound Carin/Yorkie mix with boundless energy. He is all boy. If he was a humanlike cartoon character, Calvin of “Calvin and Hobbs” would come to mind. Hershey is house and leash trained. He spends his day running and bouncing through the yard, chewing on toys and bones and playing with his foster siblings. He loves attention and will partake in antics to get it. He plays well with the other dogs in our home and we noticed that he is possessive of his food bowl; so we recommend he be an only dog with no small children in the home. We do recommend a fenced yard since he will need extensive daily exercise. He is up to date with vaccines, microchipped, on month heartworm/flea prevention and neutered. Yup they are! This is Penelope and Teddie, 2 very bonded sweet souls. Both cuties are 8 years old, Teddie is a 14lb Poodle mix while Penelope is an 11 lb Maltese mix. They can be a bit shy at first in new surroundings, but warm up nicely once they feel comfortable and both love the human touch. They are learning to play with toys, and love sleeping in their doggie beds, and sometimes even share a bed. But….we warn you, Ms. Penelope snores! Ha! They both are working really hard on their housebreaking skills, (they also use tinkle pads), so their new family will need to continue working on that with them and they are also crate trained. Hello there, my name is Palmer! I’m an amazing 2 year old terrier mix boy who was also rescued by VIP right before Hurricane Ida hit Louisiana. Before coming here, I was neglected in my previous home along with several others. You see, I have Demodex mange, but have no fear, I’ve been treated for it and I’m not contagious! I do have to have regular baths ( my Rescue friends will go over that with you) and must eat a healthy diet and in no time at all, my fur will grow back and I’ll be the most handsome boy on the block! I love to go on walks, but can get a little frightened when other dogs walk by, but I calm down and get back to focusing on my walk. I really do like other doggies though cause I get along with the ones in my foster home. I’m not too sure about kids or cats though, my foster home only has doggies in it! Hi friends! My name is Stretch.
I recently came to Florida with a bunch of dog friends. We took a long road trip from Louisana to get out of the way of the hurricane. First off, I want to thank all of the helpful rescue humans that got me safely from the shelter in Louisana to my foster home with VIP Rescue. I am now rested up and in search of my forever home!!
I am approximately 1 years old and weigh 17lbs. They say I am a Corgi/Dachshund/Terrier mix. They also say I am cute, affectionate, friendly, feisty and energetic.
So far, so good my foster mom says with the housebreaking. I’ve only been here a week and I’m still getting into a routine. She has potty papers down for her dogs and I use those sometimes, but I’m really liking the outdoor potty times.
What I would really like is to chase a bicycle or a jogger, or even a golf cart, but foster mom says that is not safe so we are working on my reactivity to those things while I’m outside on leash. Although I walk well on the leash, I bark loud and pull when I see these things. Foster mom distracts me, sometimes with a treat, and we move along. She says I need more practice ignoring these fast moving things but that I’ve got potential. I still say let me at ‘em!!
I am a young, energetic dog. If you don’t have a safe contained area for me to run, I will need some nice daily walks to get my steps in, my energy out, as well as ample sniff & smell time.
I get along great with other dogs, just properly introduce us. It would be nice to have some dog friends in my future, but they don’t have to live with us. I share toys, I play with toys. Did I say ToYs? I love toys!!!

Scruffy/Indian Rocks Beach is a one year old male Lhasa/Shih Tzu mix. He is friendly and affectionate, and enjoys meeting new people. His personality is as charming as he is adorable. He has big energy and plays with lots (and lots) of enthusiasm!
Scruffy does well with many small dogs, but not all. He loves to play and he plays rough. Because of his high energy and the companionship he has greatly enjoyed with the other dogs in his foster environment, we believe Scruffy needs a home with another compatible small, young, tolerant, playful dog. A meet and greet will be required.
While he is excellent on a leash and loves the outdoors, Scruffy still needs work on his housebreaking skills. Although notably improved, his desire to mark has his foster currently using a belly band while he is loose indoors. Scruffy sleeps in a dog crate.

Carmen is a sweet senior girl, approximately 10 years old and weighs about 13 lbs. She arrived at VIP from a hoarding situation and is a bit skittish at first and will need time to warm up but doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. Carmen now deserves to live a life full of love and security.
Carmen has dry eye in both eyes which means her eyes are not producing tears. She will need eye drops administered for life, every day, and she is very cooperative with this. She has very limited sight due to neglect and not receiving proper medical care. She may require a simple eye surgery (at our cost, at our vet) if the eye drops are not enough. This should help with her tear production as well as her sight.
Carmen is working on her bathroom etiquette and will use pee-pee pads or go outside. She is good in a crate when needed, and will gladly curl up in her bed/crate at night. When she arrived her beautiful coat was so matted and flea infested she had to be shaved down. With proper nutrition and care, she will be the cover girl beauty we know she can be!
Both of Carmen’s back legs have luxating patella’s but a simple daily joint supplement will help with this and the condition causes her no pain and she still enjoys her daily walks! She is dog friendly and would most likely be cat friendly.

Stella is a 5+yr old Toy Poodle. She weighs under 7Lbs.
She came to us after being dropped off at a shelter.
Dogs, like Stella, look perfect on the outside, but can have deep rooted fears.
We do not know all her history, but she came to us completely in fear of humans. It has taken us months to overcome the fear in her and repair her trust in humans.
She is slowly coming out of her shell. She loves to play with the other dogs and cat. She loves her walks and outings in the backyard. A fenced-in yard would be really great for Stella.
She alerts us to company and unfamiliar noises around the house.
Stella is not good for a household with children. She can be nippy.
She needs someone with a lot of patience and understanding, preferably an experienced owner.
Stella is spayed, micro-chipped and up to date with all her shots. She seems in great health.

Gabby/Largo
Meet Gabby.
Everyone seems to Love Gabby and she seems to love everyone.
An adorable -10Lb mixed-something (most likely Terrier)?
A smart, happy, playful, girl.
Gabby, a senior, (10+) was found roaming the streets and must have been on the street for some time, as her skin was riddled with fleas and a horrible yeast infections all over her. She was mostly hairless when she came to us. She also had ear infections.
It has taken quite a while to get her back to looking like the gorgeous natural Blonde that she is. She is still healing and growing new hair. This has been a slow process. Because of this, Gabby is on special food so her skin can keep healing.
She gets along with everyone, plus dogs and cats. She likes to play with toys and other dogs. She also likes to cuddle.
We have no way to know how long she was on the streets, but it has taken some time for her trust in humans again. She is still protective about her personal space and treats. And she likes to do things in her own time. She needs someone with patience, preferably an experienced owner.
She is not thrilled with her walks (yet) and loves romping around the backyard. A fenced in yard would be a Plus for Gabby. We are working on housetraining.
She would not be suitable in a household with children. She can be Nippy.

Jersey Mac/Bellair I’m thought to be a Norwegian Terrier mix of love. I’m approximately 7 years young and 18 lbs. I had a few teeth removed during my dental. If let out regularly I’m housebroken, bonus! I get along fine with my foster families pack, but not kid or cat tested yet. I’m HW negative and UTD on all my shots.
