We’d like you to meet 11 lb. 5 month old Hogan. Can you believe that cute little face? He is the biggest goofball and oh so smart. We think his adult weight could be upwards of 15-22 lbs, but please note, that is not a guarantee of weight.
Hogan is an active puppy who loves to play with the other pups in his foster home and of course, like any puppy, likes to chew on things. He picks up anything and everything that is in front of him, so he will need age appropriate puppy chew toys and a quick human to take rocks, twigs and anything out of his mouth that he finds outside! After playtime, he will settle down in a soft puppy bed or the nearest lap to relax. Please remember, puppies require ALOT of time, patience and consistency, especially in potty training. (He has been working on pee pad training). He has started leash walks, this is a work in progress. Also, don’t forget, they can be “curious” so you’ll need to puppy proof your home as well for his safety. He will need a home with watchful eyes to make sure he doesn’t get into things he is not supposed to. A work from home family, or one who only works away from the home for just a few hours a day will be given preference. A secure fenced yard would be Hogans preference so he can run and play and burn off his puppy energy. He will need someone who can commit to walks and mental enrichment including training and toys. He requires plenty of human interaction and can suffer from separation anxiety if left alone for long periods. This can result in some destructive behaviors such as excessive barking or chewing through your favorite slippers or shoes.
Hogan would love a family that will continue to show him all the good things that life has to offer. If there are children in the home, it is recommended that they be 8+. He is fast and he darts around and can get under feet quickly and sometimes unnoticed. He will need to be in a home where his people are agile and very alert to keep an eye out for him. He is looking for a home with another dog for him to play with and learn from, a similar sized dog between 15-30 lbs, would be best, and please, no big doggies in his new home.
Hogan has been neutered, is current on his age appropriate vaccines, microchipped and started on his heartworm and flea prevention. Please keep in mind the costs to groom him, usually every 8-10 weeks, can range from $60-$120/per grooming.
If you’d like to add this little cutie to your family, please visit www.viprescue.org to fill out an adoption application.
Adoption Requirements: You must be a Florida resident, and be at least 25 years of age to adopt. To qualify for adoption, all of the pets in your home must be spayed or neutered, be current on all vaccines, preventatives, and have received consistent veterinary care. If you’ve had more than one Vet in the past 3 years, please provide all the names and number for each vet. This breed typically lives 12-15 years, so please keep that lifespan in mind, as your age should be appropriate for the pets estimated lifespan.
All of us at VIP Rescue are Volunteers, with families, jobs and pets of our own, so please be kind and patient. We select the most fitting application for the dog, not necessarily the timeliest adoption application. Please make sure to read the entire bio of the pet you’re interested in before applying to adopt to make sure you meet the pets needs. Thank you for thinking rescue.
