Meet Remmy!
Remmy is a one year old Black Standard Poodle who just celebrated his first birthday! He loves to play non-stop, runs in circles like crazy, and if you throw him a ball he will bring it back to you! Remmy is underweight at approximately 48 lbs, and needs a high quality diet. His former owner surrendered him as he did not do well in apartment life or being left 10-12 hours a day. Remmy does well with other active dogs and follows their lead and wants to play non-stop. He loves to go for a ride and cuddle. He is a very affectionate dog. He learns quickly in a structured environment, and needs a strong patient pack leader to make up for his lack of training in his life thus far.
Remmy must have a fenced yard minimum of 6 foot high to exercise and release his energy under your supervision! No doggie doors. No electric fences. He will need someone committed to obedience training and preferably an experienced handler familiar with puppy behaviors and positive reinforcement training. We do not recommend a home with children as he is still in his puppy jumping and nipping stages when he gets very excited and he will bolt out your door if given the opportunity. He is learning……….but he also has a mind of his own! What Standard Poodle doesn’t? He is so very smart!
Remmy is current on all his vaccinations, has been neutered, and is heartworm negative, house trained, and crate trained. At this time, we recommend he be crated in your absence as he is curious and a counter surfer. He just wants to be your shadow, he is an excellent houseguest, a loving companion, and is non-stop entertainment! Remmy is always happy when he is with you! Remmy is vocal and barks at strangers. We are working on his leash manners and he has improved immensely, but still has more work that is needed to desensitize him to stimuli. Remmy loves to cuddle and sleep next to your bed.
This little guy has had a rough start from being undernourished, neglected, and is afraid of grooming from a very bad experience. He needs someone willing to make the commitment to teach him right from wrong, spend quality time with him and not live a life being crated 8-10 hours a day. Grooming can be done by an experienced groomer. It is a matter of building trust and takes time and patience.
Remmy has so much to offer to the right home. He really loves his people and wants nothing more than to please you! He loves other dogs! He has a huge heart! He just needs someone to return all the love he has to give and show him the way!
Remmy is fostered in Leesburg, Florida, zipcode 34788 and will only be adopted to a Florida Resident. If you would like to meet Remmy or obtain more information, you must complete an adoption application at VIP RESCUE. www.viprescue.org One of our volunteers will then contact you once we have received your application. A home visit will be completed before you are approved for adoption. Remmy’s adoption donation is $450 and $100 of your donation will be refunded once proof of basic obedience has been completed at your selected training facility / trainer.
