We’d like you to meet Percy or as we call him Prince Percy or Perfect Percy!!  Can you believe that little face? So cute, right? We are in love with this mighty little fireball, who is a healthy and happy 5.5 month old little boy who weighs in at a whopping 4 lbs.!!!! We’re thinking his adult weight could be 15-30 lbs, but please note, that is not a guarantee of weight at all, as he was surrendered with no information on parentage.  He is a very smart little boy, who is learning new things everyday, like navigating puppy stairs to get on the sofa to be with you, and out to the back yard down 3 steps for play and to work on potty training.  He is a busy smiley guy who lovvvvees teething toys, soft toys, and when left unattended human shoes! (typical puppy, right?)

Percy is all about drama, we are not sure where this comes from.  If you look at him sideways, he will scream, if he is caught by the edge of a chair while he is running, he will scream, and of course if he gets a love bite from another pup he will scream! lol….and when that is gone and forgotten he loves to play with the other pups in his foster home as well as plays on his own.  He will require another small, young, active dog in his home to play with, (no big dogs at all) as well as you should have the time and patience to dedicate to him to. Like any puppy, Percy likes to chew on things so you’ll need a sharp watchful eye. He picks up anything and everything that is in front of him, so he will need age appropriate puppy chew toys and a quick human to take rocks, twigs and anything he wants to put in his mouth while outside. He will also need adult supervision at all times while outside due to the fact he is so small. After playtime, he will settle down in a soft puppy bed or lap to relax.

Please remember, puppies require ALOT of time, patience and consistency, especially in potty training. (He has been working on pee pad training), his tiny bladder can not hold it for long hours, you will need time and patience while he is learning potty training.  Also, don’t forget, they can be “curious” so you’ll need to puppy proof your home for his safety. A work from home family, or one who only works away from the home for just a few hours a day will be given preference.

Percy would love a family that will continue to show him all the good things that life has to offer. Since he is currently so small, If there are children in the home, it is recommended that they be at least 12+ and small dog experienced. He is fast and so small he can get under feet quickly and sometimes unnoticed. He will need to be in a home where his people are very agile, active, and very alert to keep an eye out for him, and one who will take him on leash walks. Remember, the heat in Florida heats up the pavement. Be careful that his little feet don’t go on the hot pavement. Early morning and early evening are a little better, but you still need to be cautious.

He does have a playmate in his current foster home, maybe you would consider adopting both?  Snowball is 1.5 years young and 5.5 pounds, and is his favorite playmate.  See separate post

Percy is neutered, is current on his age appropriate vaccines, microchipped and started on his heartworm prevention and flea prevention.

If you’d like to add this little cutie to your family, please visit www.viprescue.org to fill out an adoption application.

Adoption Requirements: You must be a Florida resident, and be at least 25 years of age to adopt. We do check county property records and public court records. To qualify for adoption, all of the pets in your home must be spayed or neutered, be current on all vaccines, preventatives, and have received consistent veterinary care. If you’ve had more than one Vet in the past 3 years, please provide all the names and numbers for each vet. This breed typically lives 15-18 years, so please keep that lifespan in mind, as your age should be appropriate for the pet’s estimated lifespan.

All of us at VIP Rescue are Volunteers, with families, jobs and pets of our own, so please be kind and patient. We select the most fitting application for the dog, not necessarily the timeliest adoption application. Please make sure to read the entire bio of the pet you’re interested in before applying to adopt to make sure you meet the pets needs. Thank you for thinking rescue.
