Hi everyone, I’m Max!  I am an (almost) 13 years young 17 pound malti-poo at intake – as of 8-26-23 he is down to 13.4, A few more to go… and guess what! Today, Wednesday, is MY BIRTHDAY!!! I hope it’s gonna be a LUCKY 13 day where I get my new “hooman” “fur” ever home, wouldn’t that be “paw”some!

I recently came to VIP Rescue when my family moved away and couldn’t take me with them. The great folks here didn’t hesitate to take me under their wing. First stop was the dog-tor for a checkup. I had a dental cleaning and had a bump on the side of my mouth removed. It never seemed to bother me and it definitely didn’t stop me from eating! I was panting quite a bit, (heck, I was nervous with all these new faces around!) but Doc said there was no sign of any heart disease or murmur, and likely caused by my “Wittle chubbie” self and it should get better after I’ve lost a few pounds and maybe, just maybe, I can do a little more walking when it’s not so hot out!

Other than a quarterly cytopoint injection for my allergies, I am very healthy boy!   I have beautiful curly white hair that’ll need to kept groomed, so please keep that in mind if you’re wanting to adopt me.

Are you looking for a friend who will follow you wherever you go?  I’m very easy going and will find a nice place to nap in whatever room you are in. I do know what to do if you bring me outside, but I won’t tell you I need to go out though, so frequent potty breaks are a must!  Learning a new routine is a lot at my age, but my foster mom says I’m catching on quickly!  I’m not a fan of the outside (it is H.O.T.) so she carries me out to the grass. Then I go stand by the door until she lets me back into the AC. Ha!  I love taking short walks early in the morning, and maybe in the evening, and I will sit nicely while you put my harness on. I bark a little when foster Mom first leaves, and when she comes home, even after a short time away, I am usually asleep somewhere.  This could be because there are other dogs in this house so I’m not really alone. That being said, I get along with the other dogs; though I favor human company.   I DO NOT like to be left alone for long periods of time, so If you’re retired or work from home, that’ll work for me.

I am neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea prevention.  What do you think?  Do I sound like the boy for you?  My foster mom thinks I’m super sweet.  Sometimes I give her ankle kisses just to let her know how happy I am.

I almost forgot, I know how to play fetch!  I found a little tennis ball in the toy box and we played a short game inside.  I’ve been told I can take the tennis ball with me!  I wasn’t interested in any of the squeaky toys, but I knew just what to do with that ball.  I have the picture to prove it too!!!

Adoption Requirements: You must be a Florida resident, and be at least 25 years of age to adopt. To qualify for adoption, all of the pets in your home must be spayed or neutered, be current on all vaccines, preventatives, and have received consistent veterinary care. If you’ve had more than one Vet in the past 3 years, please provide all the names and number for each vet. This breed typically lives 12-15 years, so please keep that lifespan in mind, as your age should be appropriate for the pets estimated lifespan.

All of us at VIP Rescue are Volunteers, with families, jobs and pets of our own, so please be kind and patient. We select the most fitting application for the dog, not necessarily the timeliest adoption application. Please make sure to read the entire bio on the pet you’re interested in before applying to adopt to make sure you meet the pets needs. Thank you for thinking rescue.
