Hey there, I’m Bugsy, or Bug for short!! I found myself in need of a new home when my human failed me and posted me on craigslist, UGH! I tell ya, sometimes that can be one scary place for a pup to find a new home. I hope no other animals find themselves in the situation I was in on there and given to the first person to respond with absolutely no questions asked. Luckily, a dog lover saw my ad and went and scooped me up. Phew….close call, huh? They were told I had never seen a vet, I was not given any flea or heartworm prevention and I was not neutered. They didn’t even tell them I mark my territory and am a very active puppy dog. I had no choice but to leave the home I had known.
I found myself in need of everything dog, even things I didn’t know I needed! I can tell I am in a much better place now and after only a short time I have fallen head over heals for my foster mom, I follow her everywhere and the other dogs where I am staying and very nice to me too. Things happened SO fast after that! I am getting yummy food, I visited the Dog-tor and got current with my vaccinations, tested for heartworm, (thankfully I’m negative). I’m now on heartworm and flea meds, yeah, I was covered in those pesky yucky fleas. Then I was off to the groomer for a bath and hair trim, as I have a wire coat with some soft fluffy hair mixed in. With all that behind me and a few days of rest and some play, I went back to the Dog-tor for a neuter and dental.
A long time supporter of VIP Rescue stepped up and generously sponsored all of this Vet care for me, lil’ ol’ Bugsy, as well as the grooming, and first month flea and heartworm prevention! Wow! I’m one lucky pup, huh? AND guess what? I’m now ready to find my furever home! Yippee!!!
Now the fun stuff. I’m a high-energy pup who loves to play, chase balls, and run. I enjoy taking long leash walks, (in the cooler part of the days, remember, hot pavement on my footsies hurts) couch snuggles and sleeping with my foster mom in the human bed at night and have discovered soft doggy beds are wonderful for daytime naps. I love lots of cuddles, human affection, and having my human in my eye sight at all times. My foster home has other pups and I’m super curious about them and watch what they do and how they play. I would be best with a home that has another established pup, one my size or similar. I’m very nervous around bigger doggies.
I also need someone who is home more often than not, maybe is retired, or works from home. I don’t like being crated, I will bark and let you know if I am contained or accidentally shut in a room. Because I’m vocal if I feel contained, I will need a single family home, I’m not suitable for condo or apartment living.
I do mark sometimes, yes the downside to some male dogs, (and especially not being neutered when I was younger, AND no houstraining either) but please don’t let that deter you, I promise my foster mom is working on this and showing me that it is not OK to mark in the house. I am getting used to a bellyband (male diaper) and with each day I use it less and less. The other pups in the house do their business outside and I am watching carefully and learning.
I am neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea prevention and I have bea-ut-iful pearly white teef, as I just got a fresh dental.
If you think you’re a good fit for me, please visit www.viprescue.org to fill out an adoption application for Bugsy.
Thank you for reading my information today. If this is here, I am still available for adoption!
Adoption Requirements: You must be a Florida resident, and be at least 25 years of age to adopt. To qualify for adoption, all of the pets in your home must be spayed or neutered, be current on all vaccines, preventatives, and have received consistent veterinary care. If you’ve had more than one Vet in the past 3 years, please provide all the names and number for each vet. This breed typically lives 15-18 years, so please keep that lifespan in mind, as your age should be appropriate for the pets estimated lifespan.
All of us at VIP Rescue are Volunteers, with families, jobs and pets of our own, so please be kind and patient. We select the most fitting application for the dog, not necessarily the timeliest adoption application. Please make sure to read the entire bio on the pet you’re interested in before applying to adopt to make sure you meet the pets needs. Thank you for thinking rescue. THANK YOU from all our Volunteers at VIP Rescue.
