Wyatt has a meet greet scheduled for this Saturday with a potential adopter.
Wyatt is a 5 year old Giant Schnauzer / Standard Poodle blend sometimes referred to as a GIANT SCHNOODLE. He has a lovely non-shedding black/silver curly thick coat. He weighs in at 83 lbs, and is a big happy healthy boy! Wyatt comes to VIP Rescue from his owner who did not have the time to devote the attention he needs but suffered no abuse or neglect. He attracts a crowd wherever he goes, and people are in awe when they see him. He is a well trained boy, sits, lies down, walks well on a leash, and comes when called. Wyatt needs lots of attention; he puts his head in your lap for affection. If you do not respond, the paw comes up on your lap, then the other paw, and pretty soon he will be in your lap before you know it! I would classify him as a very needy boy…..in that he likes attention 24×7. He follows you everywhere you go. He is in good health, but we are working at rectifying an ear infection at this time.
He is housetrained and crate trained. As a puppy, he had a broken hip, and surgery corrected the problem. He shows no signs of issues from this injury as he was properly cared for at the time of injury. You can take Wyatt anywhere with you; he enjoys riding in the car and going shopping or out to eat and on walks. He does not counter surf, nor does he get into the garbage or get on furniture which is typical of this breed. However, he loves his special toys, and loves to chew bones with marrow. He does not share his toys or bones……and you will get a growl when attempting to remove them. We are working on that. He has a delightful personality, a big lover of his people, and is a good watch dog to alert.
He would make a great Therapy Dog with some additional training. Wyatt needs a fenced yard in his new home to properly exercise to fetch and retrieve. We recommend a home with no children or larger older dog savvy children due to his size as he does not really understand how large he is and when he paws for attention, or steps on your feet, it is too much for a child. He would do well in a home with no other dogs or one other dog. He gets along with all the dogs he has met; however he is not interested and does not engage with other dogs yet. Because he likes so much human attention, we recommend him in a home where he is the prime focus of your affection. Wyatt is not compatible with cats. He is not fond of storms or fireworks. Wyatt requires frequent grooming.
