Zack/Holiday

Zack is a handsome special little 6 year old 12 lb Yorkie! He is current on his shots , dewormed, micro chipped, heart worm negative, and neutered! He is very friendly, and good on a leash. Thanks to Sandy Paws grooming in Palm Harbor for the fresh groom.

Zack is special needs in that his is a diabetic. Not a big deal, however his new family will need to be committed to manage and monitor Zack.

Diabetic dogs need blood glucose levels tested every 6 months at the vet. (Approx $75 for test)

Insulin injections are required once or twice a day (Walmart $25 per bottle insulin lasts 2-3 months and syringes $13 for 100. )

Sometimes vets recommend special dog food for diabetic dogs.

You will need to be able to give injections to Zack twice daily.

I know hearing that a dog has diabetes and requires shots daily can be very intimidating. I think this is the main reason our little Zack has not been adopted yet.

I felt the same way until one of my little dogs was diagnosed with diabetes. I didn’t think I would be able to give shots!!!?

Canine Insulin

Our vets would be more than happy to take some time with Zack’s new owners to show them how to give him his (twice) daily shots to get you comfortable with the procedure.

It is not hard, the meds are not expensive…it’s the commitment you can make to Zack to be there for him twice a day to give him the medicine that will help him live a long, healthy life.
